PROTESTERS DEMAND: TANK FARM MUST GO

A Fairfax citizens' group rallied at the Star Enterprise tank farm Saturday to show it's not giving up efforts to get the facility removed from the area.

"The community will continue to demand the shutdown and move to a safe industrial site," said Kathleen Sheridan, spokeswoman for Citizens for a Healthy Fairfax, which organized the protest.

About 400 people attended the rally, Sheridan said.

The group says the underground oil storage facility poses a health risk to some residents in eastern Fairfax. A 200,000-gallon leak at the farm forced the evacuation of four families, and dozens of others have reached financial settlements with the tank farm's owners.
