YORK SCORES VICTORY IN HANES 150

Veteran Mickey York of Asheboro, N.C., took the lead from George Crenshaw on lap 103 and led the final 48 laps to win the Hanes 150 for Goody's Dash cars Saturday at Martinsville Speedway.

It was York's third victory in the five Dash series races this year.

"We took a page from the book of Winston Cup drivers and used a lower third gear to help the brakes slow the car down into the corners," York said.

Will Hobgood was second, .28 seconds behind York. Ernest Winslow was third, followed by Rodney Orr and Lee Farthing.

The race was slowed by 11 yellow flags covering 45 laps. Three of those flags were caused by spins of Kerry Earnhardt, son of Dale Earnhardt. Kerry was 16 laps down at the finish, in 16th place.
