BEDFORD COUNTY MAN DIES WHILE FLEEING POLICE

A Bedford County man was killed in an automobile collision following a police chase, Lynchburg police said.

Christopher Lynn Hylton, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday night, Lynchburg police Officer D.L. Cruise said.

Hylton was involved in an earlier two-car collision in Campbell County about 11 p.m. Saturday. A state police trooper from Appomattox witnessed the wreck and approached the two vehicles, Cruise said.

When Hylton saw the trooper approaching, he drove away, Cruise said. The trooper drove after Hylton, he said.

Hylton lost control of his 1984 Honda and hit a pickup truck.
