BUCCANEERS FALL 3-2

Designated hitter Brad Seitzer led off the eighth inning with a home run that lifted the Frederick Keys to a 3-2 victory over the Salem Buccaneers in a Carolina League baseball game on Sunday.

Salem (6-9) took a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning. Ken Bonifay's two-run single drove in second baseman Chance Sanford and shortstop Tony Womack, both of whom had singled.

Frederick third baseman Scott McClain tied it up in the seventh inning when he hit a two-run home run on the first pitch thrown by reliever Jim Martin.

Scott Klingenbeck (2-0) was the winning pitcher for the Keys (10-7). He worked eight innings, giving up two runs on six hits while striking out nine. Sean Evans (0-1) was the loser for Salem. He gave up one run on three hits in one inning of work.

Rightfielder Trace Ragland was also 3-for-4 with a double for the Buccaneers who take on the Durham Bulls tonight at 7 p.m. at Salem Municipal Field. \
