OBIT GREENE, LEWIS CALVIN

GREENE, Lewis Calvin, 62, of Buena Vista, died April 25, 1993, in a Salem hospital. He was born October 3, 1930 in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Walter L. and Louise S. Greene. He was retired from Reeves Bros., and was a member of the Stone Brethren Church, American Legion Post 126 and Disabled American Veterans. He received a Purple Heart while serving in the U.S. Army in Korea. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Garrett Greene; one son, Ronald Greene, Buena Vista; one daughter, Cynthia Greene, Buena Vista; five sisters, Dorothy Hartless, Lexington, Nancy Campbell, Asheboro, N. C., Shirley Bowyer, Gum Springs, Joyce Whiteside, Natural Bridge, Jane Davis, Buena Vista; two brothers, Robert Greene, Hagerstown, Md., Hilton Greene, Lexington; eight nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 27, 1993, at the Lomax Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Harold Bowmen at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
