OBIT RODES, MARGARET PENDLETON STEPHENSON
RODES, Margaret Pendleton Stephenson, 44, of Route 5, Bedford, died Sunday,
April 25, 1993, in the Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was born in the city of
Bedford on June 16, 1948, a daughter of Allison H. Stephenson and Isabel White
Stephenson. She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church, the Bedford
Historical Society, the Bedford Book Forum, the Garden Club of Bedford and the
Association of Operating Room Nurses. Margaret was a graduate of Liberty High
School and attended Virginia Intermont College. She went on to receive her
registered nurses degree from Virginia Baptist Hospital and then studied at
Duke University Hospital for a year before graduating from Virginia
Polytechnic Institute. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her
husband, James Robert Rodes Jr.; two sons, J. R. Rodes III, and Charles
Alexander Rodes, both of Bedford; one sister, Coral Lee Allmond of Danville. A
memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Episcopal
Church with the Rev. James A. Creasy officiating. The family will receive
friends at the home of her parents. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made
to the St. John's Episcopal Church, the American Cancer Society, or a charity
