$12.9 MILLION BUDGET PROPOSED FOR WYTHEVILLE

Town Council has proposed a $12.9 million budget for 1993-94, up about $1 million over the current spending plan, but with no tax or user-fee increases.

A public hearing will be held May 24, with adoption scheduled for June 14.

Council, meeting Monday night, also agreed to install flashing lights and four-way stop signs at the entrance to the Wytheville Shoney's Restaurant at the recommendation of its Public Works Committee.

Shoney's manager Brian Spencer said the restaurant has 137 employees, along with its customers, entering from the intersection of Chapman Road and Malin Drive.

Council also banned bicycles, mo-peds, skateboards and other wheeled traffic from the walking trail in Withers Park. It limited animals to those on leashes or under strict voice control.
