The concert will end Arts Array, a yearlong series of arts events including films, live music and theatrical performances and readings by poets and authors.
The community college held those events on its campus, but decided to move Ainslie's concert for more space after his first one in January was standing room only.
"People were sitting in the aisles and standing in the doorways and out in the hall trying to listen," recalled Beth Smith, visiting artist program coordinator. Richard Rose, Barter's new producing artistic director, agreed to donate the theater to the community for the evening.
"We are interested in making the theater an integral part of the community," Rose said. "In addition to co-hosting this concert with the Visiting Artist Program at VHCC, the Barter looks forward to planning a musical series in the theater in the near future."
