OBIT VERNON, ETTA MAE SPEAKS
VERNON, Etta Mae Speaks 79, of Roanoke, died Monday, April 26, 1993. She
was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Roanoke, where she was an active
member of the Angelus Class. Mrs. Vernon was preceded in death by her husband,
Jackson M. Vernon. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Ruby V. and Paul
M. Howell; a grandson, Paul V. Howell, all of Roanoke; a sister, Mohee S.
Hanes, Winston-Salem, N.C. Services will be held at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel at
noon on Thursday, April 29, 1993. The Rev. M. Dennis Herman and Dr. Harry Y.
Gamble will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. The
family will receive friends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7
to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
