OBIT THOMPSON, ROY PRESTON SR.

THOMPSON, Roy Preston Sr., 54, of Natural Bridge, died Sunday, April 25, 1993, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Thompson was born November 10, 1938, in Rockbridge County, a son of Lydia Falby McDaniel of Lexington and the late Will Thompson. He was a member of the Sam Houston Ruritan Club. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Mary Belle Ralston Thompson; one son, Roy Preston Thompson Jr., Lexington; one daughter, Karen Sue Blackburn, Staunton, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Gill, Staunton, Va., Mrs. Barbara Orange, Troutville, Va.; four grandchildren, Benji, Christopher, Nick and Cory; one half sister, Edmonia Smith, Roanoke, Va. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 1993, at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dr. D. B. Martin and the Rev. Nathan Miller officiating. Burial to follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Glasgow First Aid Crew. The family will receive friends on Tuesday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
