POLITICIANS CAN'T TEND TO BUSINESS

THE APRIL 19 issue of U.S. News & World Report gives a very small item, which states: "Planned investment by business this year in new buildings and equipment: $582 billion, a 6.6 percent jump."

This dollar amount makes President Clinton's "pork" stimulus package of $16 billion-plus look very sick. The planned expenditures by business will eventually produce real jobs, not make-work jobs. The administration and Congress should keep out of artificial jobs-creation efforts and only stimulate businesses' job creation. Politicians are not businessmen! WILLIAM E. BUTTERFIELD BLUE RIDGE
