GIFT TO RUSSIA IS APPALLING

I AM DISGUSTED and appalled by many of the actions our new president has taken.

In spite of the huge national deficit, he makes a gift to Boris Yeltsin of $1.6 billion! It has been proved many times over that Russia can't be trusted. It would have been more logical to apply this to the national debt.

In view of the past two national elections, I've been sorely disappointed. I think I'll swear off voting. Once politicians are in office, they forget their promises to all the good ol' Joes who voted for them. ELEANOR H. WATSON ROANOKE
