LONESOME PINE POETRY CONTEST WINNERS NAMED

Deborah S. Barbour of Radford won the $100 top prize in this year's Lonesome Pine Short Story Contest for an entry titled "Buzzard."

Two Roanoke writers won the second and third prizes. Rebecca S. Mushko won $50 for "Forced Blossoms," and Michael L. Allen won $25 for "Darwin's Law."

The 6-year-old contest is part of the annual John Fox Jr. Festival recently completed at Mountain Empire Community College.
