APPLE BLOSSOM FESTIVAL OPENS IN WINCHESTER

The 66th Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival will begin today, featuring guest celebrity Mary Tyler Moore and Billy Graham's granddaughter.

The event runs through Sunday and includes a variety of activities that festival officials say will attract as many as a quarter-million people to this city of 22,000.

Moore will be the marshal of Saturday's Grand Feature Parade, which will include dozens of marching bands and musical performers as well as floats with themes related to the region's apple industry.

The festival's queen, Elizabeth Noelle Dienert, the 19-year-old granddaughter of Graham, will be crowned Friday. - Associated Press
