DAVID M. ARTHUR, a personal Arthur financial planner with IDS Financial Services Inc., has achieved the certified financial planner designation by completing course work and examination requirements.

\ THE ARBORGATE INN in Salem has been recognized as a "Royal" property during the company's recent property inspection.

The award reflects the steady efforts of the general manager, staff and ownership.

Lorraine Dallas is the general manager of the Salem motel.

\ IDS FINANCIAL SERVICE INC. has Mott named three personal financial planners in its Roanoke office to the 1993 IDS Silver Team.

Barbara Limberger, Jerry Mofield and Terry Mott received the award, which is reserved for the top 5 percent of the company's 7,000 personal financial planners.

\ WILLIAM G. NORK III has been honored as one of three managers in the Principal Financial Group to have the highest production of first-year associates.

\ SCHWERMAN TRUCKING CO.'S DALEVILLE TERMINAL received the company's 1993 Fiscal Award for having the outstanding terminal of the year. The terminal also received the Safety Award for safest terminal and won runner-up for most improved terminal.

\ SAFEGUARD BUSINESS SYSTEMS INC. recently recognized three employees in its Roanoke office.

Tripp Godsey received the Growth Achievement Award for highest percentage sales growth during the previous year.

Godsey has been with Safeguard for three years and is responsible for distributing Safeguard products in the Roanoke and New River Valley area.

Donna Springer was named to Safeguard's 1993 Eagles Club in recognition of outstanding sales achievement. Springer has been with Safeguard for 13 years.

Charles T. Kuehn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl H. Kuehn, was named the company's New Person of the Year Award.

Springer and Kuehn sell Safeguard products throughout Southwestern Virginia.

\ DANIEL W. JACKSON of 5704 Castle Rock Road S.W. recently received the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Outstanding Award for 1992 from the organization's Region 3.

Jackson, a retired senior product engineer with components engineering at General Electric Drive Systems in Salem, is the immediate past director of Region 3, having been director in 1990 and 1991.

\ DOTTIE SLAYDON and J.C. TAYLOR, sales associates with Century 21 Young Realty in Salem, were named members of the Masters Emerald Club. Masters Club members were recognized for high sales performance during 1992.

The Century 21 Masters Emerald Club honors Realtors who have generated at least $90,000 in gross closed commissions to the office, or who have served either as listing or selling agent in 36 or more completed sales for three consecutive years.

Slaydon and Taylor are two of 20 Realtors out of more than 5,000 Century 21 Realtors in the Mid-Atlantic Region to achieve this distinction this year.

\ GAIL LaMAR has been named Woman of the Year by the Longwood Chapter of the American Business Women's Association. She has been a member for four years and currently is vice president.

LaMar is a secretary with the law firm of Damico and Apgar.

\ JANICE WRIGHT was elected Woman of the Year by the Roanoke Valley Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association. She has served as vice-president for the past two years.
