IN SERVICE

DANNY A. HOGAN, son of Ola Hogan of Roanoke and the late Andrew Russell Hogan, has been promoted to brigadier general in the Air Force Reserve. He is mobilization assistant to the director for programs and evaluation at Air Force Headquarters at the Pentagon.

Hogan began his career as a pilot in 1965 and resigned his regular commission in 1975.

His reserve assignments all have been at the Pentagon, serving on the air staff and in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management.

Hogan graduated from Jefferson High School in 1961 and Virginia Military Institute in 1965.

He lives in Bakersfield, Calif., where he is managing director of the U.S. Department of Energy's Elk Hills oil field.

\ AIRMAN 1ST CLASS ERIC D. NICHOLS, son of Christine L. Jones of Roanoke and Jeffrey M. Nichols of Lincolnton, N.C., has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS CHRIS B. WALTZ, son of O.K. Waltz of 3792 Dawnwood, has returned from a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger.

Waltz is a 1988 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.

\ MARINE LANCE CPL. TRACY C. LUPTON, son of Barbara Lupton of 1723 Elbert Drive, has reported for duty with Headquarters and Service Company, Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Lupton is a 1990 graduate of Salem High School.

\ NAVY SEAMAN REGINA R. REINHARDT, daughter of Regina K. Dudding of 3698 Catawba Valley Drive, Salem, has been promoted to her present rank while serving at Naval Security Group Activity, Kami Seya, Japan.

Reinhardt is a 1991 graduate of Northside High School.

\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS BRADLEY A. BLANKENSHIP, son of Charlotte L. Blankenship of 321 10th St., Vinton, and Stephen P. Blankenship of Troutville, has left Norfolk aboard the USS Simon Lake on the way to change homeports from Holy Loch, Scotland, to La Maddalena, Italy.

Blankenship is a 1990 graduate of Salem High School.

\ NAVY FIREMAN JERRY A. HUTCHINSON, son of Alfred J. and Linda G. Hutchinson of New Castle, has been sent on a six-month tour to the Persian Gulf aboard the cargo ship USS El Paso, based in Norfolk.

Hutchinson is a 1990 graduate of Craig County High School.

\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS BENJAMIN A. RAY, son of Ronald K. and Georgia K. Ray of 4944 Keffer Road, Catawba, recently left for the Mediterranean Sea for six months aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, based in Norfolk.

Ray is a 1991 graduate of Northside High School.
