NEWPORT NEWS PAIR WIN $3 MILLION LOTTO

A Newport News couple who said they have played the same five sets of Lotto numbers for three years claimed a $3.1 million jackpot Thursday.

Dan and Peggy Boutwell picked up their first check of $109,000 after taxes. They will receive 19 more annual payments of $107,440.

Boutwell, 56, said he had been so busy this week that he nearly failed to buy tickets for Wednesday night's Lotto drawing.

The Boutwells said they selected the winning combination - 3, 5, 10, 28, 33 and 43 - using sentimental dates.

They said they will continue operating their heating, ventilation and air-conditioning business. - Associated Press
