This annual event offers everything from yard and bake sales to dinner theater. Throughout the weekend, actor Frank Roughton Harvey will portray various Biblical characters at a series of appearances at the church.
Harvey, who also is an Methodist pastor, has devoted his ministry to dramatizing Biblical figures from Jesus of Nazareth to Judas Iscariot. He also founded the Living Word Passion Play in Cambridge, Ohio.
Harvey will perform at the Spring Dinner Theatre tonight at 7:30 as "The Roman Centurion." Dinner is at 6, and advance tickets are required.
He will portray Jesus delivering The Sermon on the Mount during Sunday morning worship services at 8:45 and 11. Sunday evening, he will assume the role of Joseph of Nazareth, and Monday evening, he will play Judas Iscariot. Performances both evenings will be at 7:30.
Other activities include a bake sale and yard sale today at 10 a.m. and a car wash from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., followed by a chicken dinner at 4 p.m. All events will be held at the church.
All proceeds from weekend activities will go toward mission work. For more information, call 382-2410.
It's also a special weekend for Pulaski's FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, which will consecrate its recently renovated buildings Sunday at 11 a.m. The church is at 408 N. Jefferson Street.
The Rev. Richard E. Bethune will conduct the service, and the Rev. Dr. George Magnuson of the Presbytery of the Peaks will be the guest speaker.
All three of the church's choirs will sing, and Virginia Bethune and David Jones will perform a duet of music from Beethoven's Brandenburg concertos.
A reception and tours of the newly remodeled facilities will follow the service. Renovations include aesthetic and functional changes to the sanctuary, new offices, activity rooms and a large meeting area in the former manse, and modifications to the fellowship room and kitchen to make both accessible to people with disabilities.
First Presbyterian runs the Daily Bread program to feed the needy from its kitchen.

\ ST. JUDE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH of Radford has signed a contract for construction of a new building, which is expected to be completed in the fall.
This also will mean a relocation for the parish, which is now on Tyler Avenue across from Radford University. The new building will be on Virginia 177 in Radford.
The congregation, which has outgrown its present site, has awarded the construction contract to Martin Bros. Contractors of Roanoke. It will be a two-floor, steel structure with about 12,000 square feet.
The new building and relocation has been in the church's plans for several years.

Other culinary events this weekend include the annual pig roast at 5 p.m. today at MOUNTAIN VIEW UNITED METHODIST CHURCH on Wilderness Road.
In addition to roast pork, there will be baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, dessert, rolls and beverage.
This event is sponsored by the Lord's Acre Committee. Donations will go toward special projects and the parsonage building fund.
It's revival time at the CHRISTIANSBURG CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN, 310 S. Franklin Ave. The Rev. Preston Naff of Salem will preach during revival services Sunday through Wednesday.
Naff will speak during the Sunday morning worship service and each evening at 7:30 p.m.

Making a joyful noise at several New River Valley locations during May and June will be BOB and SANDY MULLINS, a Southern gospel duo from Christiansburg. The couple belongs to Belview United Methodist Church near Christiansburg. When they're not singing, Bob Mullins is a social worker for the Salvation Army in Pulaski, and Sandy Mullins is a nurse at Radford Community Hospital.
On Friday at 7 p.m., they will appear at the BREAD OF LIFE CHAPEL, Robinson Tract Road, Pulaski. The next evening, May 8, they will perform at BACK CREEK PENTECOSTAL HOLINESS CHURCH at 7 p.m. On May 9 the duo will sing at DUBLIN GOSPEL TABERNACLE on U.S. 11. at 7 p.m.
The Mullinses have scheduled other appearances for Speedwell and Pulaski before they perform at their home church in early June. These dates and times will be in next week's column.
