OBIT ARTHUR, MURIEL DAVIES

ARTHUR, Muriel Davies, 85, of Bedford, died April 29, 1993, in Lynchburg General Hospital. Her residence was 1220 Ashland Circle in Bedford. She was born at "The Grove" in Chesterfield County, Va., on May 4, 1907, a daughter of the late Thomas Christian Davies and Florence Marlbourne Davies. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Bedford and a former member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Petersburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Michel Arthur and her daughter, Muriel Michel Arthur. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Blanche Holland Wills and Taylor B. Wills, Petersburg; four nieces, Louise D. Morgan and Helen D. Sims, Suffolk, Frances Meacham Reiter, Gulf Shores, Ala., Mary Sue Ellis, Columbia, S.C.; four nephews, Thomas Christian Davies, Samuel David Davies, and Hugh Christian Davies, Suffolk, and Marvin D. Holland Jr., Petersburg. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 5, 1993, 11:30 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, Bedford, with the Rev. James A. Creasy officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford, Sunday afternoon and memorials may be made to either St. John's Episcopal Church or the Bedford Public Library Capital Campaign.
