Eliza, the 3-5 favorite under Pat Valenzuela, came off the pace on the outside to pull even with Dispute at the top of the stretch and edged ahead at the eighth pole in the 1 1/8-mile race, the first leg of the Triple Crown for fillies.
Dispute, ridden by Jerry Bailey, responded to the challenge and pulled away for the victory in the $294,200 event for 3-year-old fillies before a record Oaks crowd of 81,882.
The winning time over a fast track was 1:52 2-5.
Quinpool finished third by a neck, and Avie's Shadow was another neck behind in fourth in the field of 10 3-year-olds. All carried 121 pounds.
