OBIT LAWRENCE, ALVERTA COLE
LAWRENCE, Alverta Cole, 90, of Blacksburg, died Friday, April 30, 1993, at
her home. Mrs. Lawrence was born in Floyd County on February 11, 1903, to the
late William Letcher and Pearlie Flinchum Cole. She was preceded in death by a
son, Leon Lawrence, a granddaughter, Marla Lawrence Ball and three brothers.
Surviving are her husband, Roff Arno Lawrence; one daughter and son-in-law,
Jean L. and Daniel Tulley, Thousand Palms, Calif.; one son and
daughter-in-law, Marvin A. and Ramona A. Lawrence, Blacksburg; three sisters,
Mamie Poff, Roanoke, Sylvia Owens and Ora Cooper, both of Salem; two brothers,
Palma Cole, Roanoke, Aaron Cole, Franklin County; a daughter-in-law, Ann
Lawrence, Roanoke; two granddaughters; three grandsons; twelve
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 2, at 2 p.m. at
McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Richard Waller and Mr. Steve Marshall will
officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The
family will receive friends Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at McCoy Funeral
Home. Friends are invited to visit at the home at 719 Dickerson Lane, after
services at Dublin. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home.
