Sheila Jo Clay and Thomas Harlow Palmer, Jr. were married May 1, 1993, in
Slate Mountain Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Roy Turpin officiating.
The reception was held at Chateau Morrisette Winery, Meadows of Dan. The
matron of honor was Leigh Jarrett Reynolds, friend of the bride. The best man
was Thomas Palmer, Sr., father of the groom. The ushers were Everett Palmer
and John Palmer, brothers of the groom. The guest book attendant was Karen
Horton, sister of the bride. The program attendant was Roberta Isler, friend
of the bride. Wedding director was Barbara Clay, sister-in-law of the bride.
The bride was escorted to the alter by Gary Clay, brother of the bride. The
bride wore a fitted gown with a trumpet skirt and detachable semi-cathedral
train made of white satin accented with elaborately beaded schiffli lace. The
bride's headpiece contained pearls, sequins and scattered rhinestones in a
tiara style design with a medium pouf flowing into a waist length veil. She
carried a cascading bouquet of pink, white and yellow roses with ivy. The
bride is the daughter of Mrs. Betty Clay and the late Mr. Colba Clay of
Willis, Virginia. She is employed by BellSouth Communication Systems, Inc. The
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Palmer, Sr., of Roanoke, Virginia. He
is employed by SYSCO Foods of Virginia. The newlyweds will reside in Roanoke,
Virginia, after a honeymoon trip to Nassau, Bahamas.
