EAGLE ROCK BOY KILLED IN CAR CRASH

A 9-year-old passenger in a pickup truck was killed early Saturday morning when he was thrown from a pickup driven by his father and crushed beneath it.

State police identified the victim as Karl Alexander Robertson Jr. of Eagle Rock and the driver as Karl A. Robertson Sr.

Trooper R.B. Osborne said the boy was riding in a 1985 Chevrolet pickup traveling north on U.S. 220 near Eagle Rock when the accident happened.

He said the driver lost control, veered into the median and the truck turned over. The boy, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out and the vehicle rolled over him.

The accident happened about 12:30 a.m. on U.S. 220, four-tenths of a mile north of Virginia 640.
