SIGMON WINS FCS FEATURE

Rick Sigmon cruised to victory in the 100-lap Late Model Stock Car feature of the Pepsi 300 at Franklin County Speedway on Saturday night.

Sigmon finished three seconds ahead of runner-up Tim McGuire for his third victory in four races this season. Ronnie Newman, last week's winner, was third.

In his first Street Stock race of this season, Kenny Wagner ended Phillip VanDerVeer's win streak at three in their 25-lap race. Wagner collected an additional $200 bounty for his efforts. Chris Foley and Freddie Goff finished second and third, respectively.

Steve Lynch was another first-time 1993 winner in the 25-lap Mini Stock competition. John Hall placed second, and Tommy Dean was third. Points leader Wayne Corprew blew his engine during practice and did not race.

R.W. Lawhorne won for the second consecutive week in the 25-lap Pure Stock race. Red Hartman and Kenny McKinney, 10th in the points standings, were second and third, respectively.

Mike Owens and Leon Moles entered the Pure Stock race 1-2 in points, but neither finished Saturday's race. Owens' radiator overheated, and Moles lost a wheel.

In the Rookie race, Martinsville's Gordon Wingfield was first. Mike Hall finished second and Steve Hurley was third.

In the Any Car race, Dean Sutphin moved into the lead late in the race and won for the third time this season.
