OBIT HELMS, HOBART HARLESS

HELMS, Hobart Harless, Major, U.S. Army Reserve, retired, 61, of 2165 N. Franklin Street, Christiansburg, died Friday, April 30, 1993, in a Roanoke Hospital. He was a retired Christiansburg High School Machine Shop Instructor. Surviving are his wife, Alleta Jo Olinger Helms; one son and daughter-in-law, Barry D. and Francine E. Helms, Hawaii; one daugher and son-in-law, Wanda M. and Gary W. Proco, Christiansburg; his mother, Louise Helms, Blacksburg; five grandchildren, Linda Gail Helms, Mary Elane Helms, Bobbi Jo Proco, Staci Leigh Proco and Erin Danielle Proco; sister-in-law, Shirley O. Aiken, Newport News; brother-in-law, Elridge "Sonny" Ryan, Dahlgreen, Va.; three nieces and five nephews. A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 3, at the Faith Christian Church, conducted by Mr. Jim Thomas, Mr. Porter Riner, and Mr. Jim Bayne. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the church. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to New River or Roanoke Valley Hospice, American Cancer Society or the Ronald McDonald House. Arrangements are being handled by Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.
