VA. ARTS EDUCATION GROUP HONORS TOTA

The Virginia Alliance for Arts Education has named Roanoke School Superintendent Frank Tota as Superintendent of the Year for his administration's commitment to the arts during the past 12 years.

The award, given to Tota during the Virginia Association of School Superintendents annual conference last week, rewarded the outgoing superintendent for securing $10.4 million in federal magnet school grants, many of which cover programs in dance, music, drama, visual arts and photography.

It also credits him with strong music and art programs offered to all Roanoke students from kindergarten through high school.
