KATHERINE WHITESIDE TO GIVE ART LECTURES

Roanoke native Katherine Whiteside will be the guest speaker at the Art in Bloom lectures May 14 at 7 p.m. and May 15 at 11 a.m. at the Art Museum of Western Virginia in Roanoke.

Whiteside is the author of "Antique Flowers" and "Classic Bulbs." She was a consultant for the eight-part PBS series and book "Gardens of the World."

Area garden club members' floral designs interpreting Impressionist works by Gari Melchers and works in the permanent collection will be featured at the Art in Bloom Gala on May 14 at 7 p.m. The Art in Bloom exhibition will be on display May 14-16.

Admission is $25 for the May 14 gala and lecture, $2 for the exhibits and $10 for the May 15 lecture. For reservations, call 342-5760.
