NEW RIVER PEOPLE IN BUSINESS

The Southwest Virginia Pharmaceutical Association has announced its officers for 1993-94: AMY WESTMORELAND of Pearisburg, president; GEORGE MAUNY of Blacksburg, vice president; LESLIE KING of Pulaski, secretary; and DAVID DAVIDSON of Christiansburg, Treasurer.

SCARLET RATCLIFFE has been appointed to the Giles County Advisory Board of The National Bank of Blacksburg. She serves as Clerk of the Circuit Court of Giles County and resides in Pearisburg.

The Christiansburg-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce has announced the promotion of J. YVONNIE "VON" MILLS to administrative assistant. She has been with the chamber more than a year and was recipient of a scholarship from the Virginia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives to attend their two-day institute in Charlottesville.

At the 14th Annual Bosses' Night Club, the New River Valley chapter of the Virginia Association of Legal Secretaries honored PEGGIE BOGGESS as Legal Secretary of the Year. She is with the law firm of Stone, Hamrick, Harrison and Turk of Radford.

CHARLES W. KING JR., vice president of business affairs at Radford University, has been appointed to the advisory board of the Radford branch of the First National Bank of Christiansburg.

Radford Community Hospital staff and associates who have recently received certifications and honors are: PATTY MCGUYER, R.N., emergency department, has been elected president of the Blue Ridge chapter of the Emergency Nurses Association for 1993. CRIS WHITAKER, R.N., director, emergency department is the secretary/treasurer for the chapter. JOHN PLOTT, E.M.T.-P., EMS assistant operations manager, recently received the Radford VFW award for "Paramedic of the Year." NANCY ROOT, director of Home Health Plus, has been named to the Virginia Tech Adult Day Care Center Advisory Committee. KERRY DONNELLY, M.D., was recently inducted as a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

SHIRLEE LOAN, sales associate with Century 21 Maddy Realty of Christiansburg, was honored as a member of the Masters Club for high sales performance in 1992. Loan previously has received Century 21's Centurion Award and the New River Valley Board of Realtors Platinum Award.

SUE MATNEY of Narrows and MARY SHEFFIELD of Blacksburg have received Manpower Temporary Services of Christiansburg's Tiffany Awards for excellence in office skills. To qualify, a temporary must work at least 400 hours within a 12-month period and receive an outstanding rating from his or her supervisor.

TRENT B. SMITH, PE, has joined the staff at Draper Aden Associates as a project engineer. He will work on designs and development of sanitary landfills and conduct site and quality assurance inspections.

LAURIE LONDRIGAN of Shawsville is the employee of the month at Meadowbrook Nursing Home of Shawsville. Londrigan was cited for perfect attendance and was described by co-workers as kind, considerate and compassionate.

Five people received recognition at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant's quality improvement team meeting in February. They were DAVID W. CURRY and BOBBY PHILLIPS of the nitrocellulose area, RAY S. ARCHER JR. and RICHARD E. BISHOP of the electronics shop and C.J. "BUZZ" PRICE of drafting.
