IN SERVICE

Cadet BRIAN T. ZEMAN has received a one-year Air Force ROTC scholarship to attend Virginia Tech. Zeman, son of Thomas B. and Shelia D. Zeman of Riner, was selected on the basis of comprehensive tests, high school scholastic achievement and extracurricular activities. Upon graduation and completion of the ROTC program, he will be commissioned a second lieutenant.

Those completing special training include:

Air National Guard Airman BRUCE H. JOHNSON, son of Mack D. Johnson of Narrows and Sylvia W. Johnson of Pembroke, completed the aircraft structural maintenance course at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Ill.

Marine Pfc. DARRELL E. ANDERSON, son of Janice O. Anderson of Dublin, completed the Motor Vehicle Operator Course at the Marine Corps Service Support School, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Marine Pfc. CHRISTOPHER W. KEENE, son of Roger W. Keene of Pulaski and Wanda F. Keene of Blacksburg, has returned from Okinawa, Japan, with the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C., as part of the Unit Deployment Program.

Air Force Tech Sgt. JAY E. CONNER, son of James E. and Genova H. Conner of Check, reported for duty as a secure communications specialist at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton.

Those completing basic training include:

Marine Pfc. SHAWN A. BREWER, son of Arva L. Brewer Sr. and Marlene J. Brewer, both of Floyd, at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Navy Seaman Recruit CHARLES A. DOOLEY, son of Charles A. and Elanor M. Dooley of Pearisburg, at Recruit Training Command, San Diego.
