MOTHERS, DAUGHTERS INVITED TO SEMINAR

A free educational program for women only, especially mothers and daughters, will be offered Saturday at Wythe County Community Hospital covering topics on biology and sexuality from the female perspective.

"Growing into Womanhood" will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the hospital's new educational meeting room. People planning to attend are asked to register by calling 1-800-422-8482.

Dr. Susan Maurot, a family physician, will give a talk on the reproductive system and body changes.

Vi Galyean, executive director of the Crisis Pregnancy Center of the New River Valley, will speak on the subject, "Why Wait?"

Lee Johnson, a registered nurse with the Wythe County school system, will speak on contraceptives and "The Five Ways Pregnancy Can Occur."

Janet McDowell, education coordinator with Planned Parenthood of the Blue Ridge, will discuss how to make decisions according to one's own values and coping strategies for peer pressure and other influences.

Evona Jessup, consultant with BeautiControl Cosmetics, will demonstrate skin care and cosmetics for young women.

Questions will be submitted to the speakers in writing so those asking specific questions need not identify themselves.

A similar program for males, "Growing into Manhood," is being planned by the hospital.
