OBIT DOWNS, DAVID L.

DOWNS, David L. 44, of Salem, died Sunday, May 2, 1993, in a Salem hospital. He had taken disability retirement from General Electric in 1992 after 20 years of service. He was a member of the West Salem Baptist Church and for many years played drums with gospel groups. Most recently with the Linkous family of Blacksburg. He is survived by his wife, Linda, and son, Ray, of Salem; mother and father, Morris and Christine Downs of Charleston, W.Va. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 5, 1993 at 6:45 p.m. at the West Salem Baptist Church, 500 Turner Rd. with the Rev. Michael Slaughter officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund or Salem Rescue Squad. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Salem Chapel.
