HEILIG-MEYERS STORES FINISH RENOVATIONS

Heilig-Meyers Co. said Monday it has completed a $250,000 renovation of its two Roanoke Valley stores that includes updated electronics departments.

Bob Anderson, manager of the Williamson Road Northwest store, and Jim Heaster of the Apperson Drive, Salem, store, said the renovations included new offices and updated sales areas.

Both stores were acquired by Heilig-Myers in February 1990 when it bought the Hub Furniture stores from Reliable Stores Inc. The Richmond-based company is the largest publicly held furniture retailer in the nation, with 442 stores. - Staff report
