Chester F. Watts, associate professor in the department of geology, is the winner of the newly established Radford University Foundation Award for Creative Scholarship.

Calloway has taught at the university for 20 years. She was also recognized for her work in advising student organizations, counseling of students and the amount of time she spends directly serving the university on committees and councils.
Watts has been on the faculty for seven years, and is known for his expertise in geology and scholarly contributions to the field. He recently created a computer software program assisting engineers and geologists in recognizing and analyzing landslide hazards, already used in such projects as building the Ronald Reagan Library and extending the Washington-Dulles Airport access road.
Each of the three awards includes $1,000 from the Radford University Foundation.
