Top-ranked Trenton State (12-0) has won 39 games in a row and has not lost a home game in more than four years.
"I guess that's what happens when you're the new kid on the block," W&L coach Jan Hathorn said. "I just keep thinking of Arizona [a first-round upset victim] in the NCAA basketball tournament."
Trenton State has won five Division III championships, the first in 1986, before W&L had a women's lacrosse program. The Generals will be making their first NCAA appearance in their fifth season of intercollegiate play.
Only eight teams are in the field. W&L (14-2) was ranked 14th in the most recent Division III women's poll, but five of the teams ahead of the Generals are in conferences that do not participate in postseason play.

Top-ranked Virginia begins the six-team NCAA Division I women's lacrosse tournament with a bye. The Cavaliers play Saturday's winner between Dartmouth (11-3) and Harvard (12-2) on May 15 in the semifinals at Maryland.
Derek Bryant from Franklin County was one of three basketball recruits announced Tuesday by Roanoke College, which also landed the leading scorer in the state.
Jason Bishop, a 6-foot-1 guard, was named first-team All-Group A after averaging 34.6 points for Rye Cove High School. Bishop, whose average was tops for all classifications, scored more than 50 points in three games and had a high of 56.
The Maroons also added 6-5 Tim Braun from Turner Ashby, where he averaged 14.9 points and 9.3 rebounds.
VMI basketball coach Joe Cantafio confirmed he has received a letter-of-intent from All-Timesland and All-Group AA guard Maurice Spencer from Martinsville High School.
Cantafio said Spencer, because of his strength, will help the Keydets play the three-guard alignment he is considering for next season.
The Keydets have added three players between 6-1 and 6-3, including guards Warren Johnson from Newport News and Jamel Grey from Hampton.
"I think the 35-second clock will make college basketball even more of a guards' game," Cantafio said.
Virginia Tech's Marcus Kramer has received a bid to the NCAA Tennis Championships, becoming the second player in Tech history to participate in the event.
Kramer, ranked 50th in the nation, finished 28-9 this year and is one of four players from Region II to get an automatic bid to the 64-player field. Thirty-two players receive bids from the eight regions nationwide; 32 others are chosen at-large to fill the bracket. Region II includes Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., North Carolina, South Carolina and parts of Georgia and Tennessee. Jim Milley was Tech's last player to make the tournament in 1978.
Virginia's women's tennis team, ranked 22nd nationally, has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division I Women's Championships May 12-16 at the University of Florida in Gainesville. The Cavaliers (18-7) will be making their first NCAA Tournament appearance. UVa is seeded 20th and will play 14th-seeded Brigham Young (16-6) on May 12.
