Vi Galyean, executive director of the Crisis Pregnancy Center of the New River Valley, will be among the speakers Saturday at a free educational program for women only, especially mothers and daughters, at Wythe County Community Hospital.

"Growing into Womanhood" will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the hospital's new educational meeting room, covering topics on biology and sexuality from the female perspective. People planning to attend are asked to register by calling (800) 422-8482.

Galyean will speak on the subject, "Why Wait?"

Other speakers include physician Susan Maurot; Lee Johnson, a registered nurse with the Wythe County school system; Janet McDowell, education coordinator with Planned Parenthood of the Blue Ridge; and Evona Jessup, beauty consultant with BeautiControl Cosmetics.

A similar program for males, "Growing into Manhood," is being planned.
