MISCELLANY MORRISON HURT; WORKOUT POSTPONED

Tommy Morrison, training in Lexington for a bout with George Foreman, injured his shoulder and neck in a workout and has postponed an exhibition scheduled for today. The public workout has been moved to May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at VMI's Cameron Hall.

At Blacksburg, the host Indians and Cave Spring played to a 1-1 tie in a non-district high school soccer match. Martin Szomanaski scored 14 minutes into the game for Cave Spring (6-2-1), but Ben Cherry of Blacksburg (10-0-1) retaliated 11 minutes later off an assist from Todd Lyons.

At Buchanan, Troy Thompson's third hit of the day drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth as James River slipped past Covington 9-8 in high school baseball. Thompson finished 3-for-4 with two doubles.

At North Cross, Aaron Hodgin scored the game-winner with 13 minutes remaining as the Raiders edged G.W. Danville 2-1 in soccer. A.J. Esguerra gave North Cross (11-1-2) a 1-0 first-half lead and the Eagles' Paul Lawrence tied the score on a penalty score on a penalty kick early in the second half. G.W. Danville is 6-5.

Tyler Pugh and Jon Mull each shot 44 to lead North Cross past Hargrave Military Academy 180-192 in a nine-hole golf match at Hunting Hills (par 35).

Individual medalist Wes Jolly shot 39 as Carlisle downed Roanoke Catholic 178-189 in a nine-hole match at Roanoke Country Club (par 35).

At River's Edge Sports Complex on Monday, Natalie Dibling scored two goals and seven other Patriots (5-0-1) scored as Patrick Henry defeated Magna Vista 9-0 in girls' soccer.
