BUCCANEERS' HOMERS LEAD TO 12-2 ROMP

Four Buccaneers smashed two-run homers Tuesday night as Salem trounced the Durham Bulls 12-2 in a Carolina League baseball game called in the sixth inning because of rain.

Mike Brown and Trace Ragland drove in runs to give Salem a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Buccaneers (10-14) led 4-0 when Brown went deep off John Wilder (2-2) with two out in the third. Chance Sanford blasted another two-run shot off Wilder in the fourth.

Salem's Jeff Conger made the score 7-0 when he hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth to score Ragland.

Durham outfielder Don Robinson hit a two-run home run in the fifth, but the Bucs turned the game into a rout with two-run homers by Ken Bonifay and Joe Ronca in the sixth.
