OBIT WHITE, DOROTHY CROWDER

WHITE, Dorothy Crowder, 87, of Roanoke, died Monday, May 3, 1993, in a local nursing home. She was the widow of Walter Ellsworth White Jr. Mrs. White was a retired employee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield, where she was the fourth employee hired by the Roanoke office. She was a Christian and a member of Grandin Court Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jean W. and Archer E. Gilliam Jr., Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Susan J. Gilliam, Virginia Beach, and Gregory A. Gilliam, Philadelphia, Pa., and several nieces and nephews and their children. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's South Chapel, 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Robert M. Hamner and the Rev. Carol Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Oakey's South Chapel.
