BROOKS, Era Ayers, 82, of Rocky Mount, died Tuesday morning, May 4, 1993 in
Franklin Memorial Hospital. She was born January 8, 1911, in Franklin County,
the daughter of the late William Henry and Jennie Maxie Ayers and was preceded
in death by her husband, Ernest L. Brooks. Surviving are four daughters and
three sons-in-law, Betty Jane and Clyde Wray of Rocky Mount, Janice B. and
Charlie O. Holland and Myrtle B. and James L. Amos, all of Glade Hill, Va.,
Nancy B. Lambert of Charlottesville, Va.; three sisters, and two
brothers-in-law, twin sister, Edna and John Divers, Zelma Perdue and Rebecca
A. and Bryan (Buddy) Law, all of Rocky Mount; one brother and sister-in-law,
Nelson and Lois Ayers of Knight Dale, N.C. Also surviving are five
grandchildren, Karen Swihart of Callaway, Robert Amos of Glade Hill, Roy L.
Holland of Rocky Mount, Ernest Lee Amos of Glade Hill, and Melinda Pagans of
Charlottesville, Va.; and two great-grandchildren, Darren Swihart II of
Callaway, Va. and Joathan Perdue of Charlottesville, Va. Also surviving are
several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday
at Lynch Chapel by the Rev. J. Larry Holland and Elder Clarence Stone with
interment to follow in the Ayers Family Cemetery in Glade Hill. Friends may
call after 12 noon Wednesday at Lynch Funeral Home where the family will also
receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
