COOPER, Joe White, 84, of Rocky Mount, died May 4, 1993, at his residence.
A life long residence of Franklin County, he was born August 26, 1908, in the
Sago Community, a son of the late Samuel James and Pearle Belle Adams Cooper.
He was retired from a distinguished career as a Franklin County Deputy Sheriff
and a member of the Rocky Mount Church of the Brethren. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard Wood Cooper,
Willard "Ted" Cooper, Wesley M. Cooper and his sisters, Berta Ingram, Edna
Ellis and Dahmie Smith and a daughter-in-law, Lottie Woods Cooper. He is
survived by his loving wife, Gladys "Tillie" Ramsey Cooper; one daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Larry (Anne Ramsey) Lester, Roanoke, Va.; four sons
and three daughters-in-law, Mr. Ronald E. Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. James W.
Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth W. Cooper, all of
Rocky Mount. He is also survived by his brother, Aubrey A. Cooper of Boston,
Mass.; his sisters, Imre C. Broome, Danville, Va.; and Nancy C. Bailey, Chino
Hills, Calif.; and five grandsons, five granddaughters, and two
great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday from
Lynch Chapel by the Rev. William Pugh with interment to follow in the Franklin
Memorial Park. Visitation will begin 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lynch Funeral Home
where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be given
to the Rocky Mount Church of the Brethren Building Fund, Tanyard Road or
Franklin County Rescue Squad.
