OBIT GROGAN, ESTHER FAIR

GROGAN, Esther Fair, 86, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday evening May 4, 1993, in a Blacksburg hospital. Born in Tazewell County, Va., August 6, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Rev. George Washington Harless and Mrs. Alice Fair Harless. She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Grogan Sr. She was a public school teacher for many years in Giles and McDowell Counties, and lived for many years at Kimball, W.Va., where she was Past Worthy Matron of the Kimball Eastern Star Lodge. Surviving are two sons, Richard G. Grogan, Bluefield, W.Va., John S. Grogran Jr., Fort Wayne, Ind.; one daughter, Jeanne G. Batten, Williamston, N.C.; seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Pembroke Christian Church, Pembroke, Va. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum at Bluewell, W.Va. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke.
