DRAMA TO BE HIGHLIGHT OF TAZEWELL FESTIVITIES

The 40-actor closing scene from "Trail of the Lonesome Pine," Virginia's longest-running outdoor drama which is performed each summer at Big Stone Gap, will be presented May 15 as part of Historic Crab Orchard Museum's 5th annual Pioneer Festival in Tazewell.

The daylong series of events also includes the opening scene of the stage version of "Beverly Hillbillies," performed by Tazewell County High School students.

The Red Bud Cloggers from Honaker, banjoist Hobart Crabtree of Big Stone Gap and the museum's Jerry Vencill all will perform during the day. Activities will start at 10 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m. with a staged bridge-burning in a Civil War re-enactment.
