BOY DIED OF HEMORRHAGING, AUTOPSY SHOWS

Preliminary autopsy results list hemorrhaging as the cause of death of a 2-year-old Woodbridge boy who authorities say was beaten by his mother's boyfriend, authorities said Thursday.

Prince William County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Judge Paul Molinari ordered Fatai Okedeji, the boyfriend, held without bond Thursday on a murder charge.

Okedeji had taken the boy, Darnell Okedeji Robinson, to Potomac Hospital Sunday night, saying he had fallen. Workers there quickly transferred him to Fairfax Hospital, where he died Tuesday night.

Commonwealth's Attorney Paul Ebert said Thursday that the final results of the autopsy won't be available for about a week.

County authorities said Wednesday they will investigate why social service workers returned the boy to his home several weeks ago following an abuse allegation. Ebert has criticized the decision.

Okedeji was charged with assault in that incident and was ordered to attend parenting classes and never to be alone with the child.
