HISTORIC NEWBERN PLANS CELEBRATION

Historic Newbern celebrates its heritage with a presentation of everyday life from the past on May 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The day begins with a country breakfast at the community center, and other activities take place at the Wilderness Road Regional Museum on Virginia 611.

Weaving, candlemaking, soapmaking, basketry, candlewicking, chair caning and cornhusk crafts are some of the pioneer crafts which will be demonstrated. A drama is scheduled for 1 p.m. Newbern is on the state and national Registers of Historic Places and is reached taking taking Exit 98 off interstate 81.
