But if that brings to mind images of long Victorian dresses and formal catered receptions, you best erase them now. Consider this:
When Allison proceeds down the aisle in her above-the-knee lace dress with "Mr. Lucky," Patrick Greeley, on May 18 (a Tuesday of all days), she'll be far from both home and family.
Allison and Pat plan to be wed in Las Vegas - in the Mother of Pearl-laden Graceland Chapel by - who else? - Elvis. "It's very tacky, yes. And it's a '70s Elvis, too," she says.
For a "very affordable" 150 bucks - the medium package - Allison and Patrick will arrive at the chapel by limo (they're encouraged to tip heavily for this perk), be joined in hunk-a-burnin'-love matrimony by the King himself (who croons two tunes of their choice), and given a wedding video, pictures and flowers (fresh or fake).
Allison, co-owner of Roanoke's The Cutting Edge hair salon, says she still doesn't know what vows they'll recite. "It's gotta be all these cliched Elvis songs," she insists. We can just hear it now: "I promise to love you tender . . . "
At any rate, we're sure she can add a line of her own to the nuptials dialogue. Our suggestion: "I, Allison, promise to do it my way."
