RAY HOYT NAMED RADFORD BUSINESS PERSON OF YEAR

The Radford Chamber of Commerce named Ray Hoyt its business person of the year Thursday night.

Hoyt, who recently retired as Inland Motor president, was presented the award at the chamber's annual dinner at Muse Hall at Radford University. John McPhail, Radford School Board chairman, was given the chamber's education-support award.

Hoyt has been a key player in the Radford business community for more than 30 years. He joined Inland Motor in 1959 and rose quickly from design draftsman to mechanical design supervisor to production manager.

He was promoted to vice president in 1969 and executive vice president of 1972. He was named general manager of Inland Motor Speciality Products Group in 1974, and shortly after that was named president of the Inland Motors Division of Kollmorgen.

Hoyt still acts as a consultant to Kollmorgen, Inland Motor's parent company. He is a former Radford chamber president and a trustee for Carilion Health Systems, Radford University Foundation and Radford Community Health Foundation.

McPhail, Radford University counselor-education department chairman, has been School Board chairman for 11 years. He was cited for his leadership and commitment to education. Gideon Argov, Kollmorgen president and chief executive officer, was banquet speaker.
