OBIT-SMITH, KESTER SHERMAN

SMITH, Kester Sherman, 76, of Pearisburg, died Thursday, May 6, 1993 at his home following a long illness. Born December 19, 1916 at Orchard, W.Va., he was the son of the late Willie Chapman (Bid) and Minnie Lively Smith. Mr. Smith was employed at the McMahon Pontiac and was a lifelong member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife, Ruth P. Smith; four sons, Marion Lee (Skooty) Poff of Dayton, Ohio, William Blake Poff of Springfield, John Michael Poff of Charlotte, N.C., Steven Kester Smith of Irmo, S.C.; two sisters, Launa Ballard and Juanita Booth, both of Peterstown, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8 at the Broyles Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, W.Va. with Rev. Steve Howdock officiating. Burial will follow in the Orchard Cemetery at Ballard, W.Va. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 7 at the Broyles Funeral Home in Peterstown, W.Va.
