AIDS ADVOCATE TO SPEAK AT COLLEGE

Dr. Patricia Wetzel will be the guest speaker at a Living With HIV/AIDS forum on Monday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Roanoke College's C. Homer Bast Gymnasium in Salem.

In 1991, Wetzel became the director of the HIV/AIDS unit at a Fort Worth, Texas, hospital. Six months later she learned she was HIV infected from a needle she accidentally stuck herself while taking a patient's blood sample.

An advocate for greater education on HIV, Wetzel urges health care professionals to treat HIV patients with respect and compassion. She is a medical consultant to Caremark International, which provides alternate-site health care for HIV/AIDS patients.

The forum is free. For more information, call 362-5411.
