OBIT FAGG, JOSEPHINE NORTHCROSS

FAGG, Josephine Northcross, 97, of Salem, died Thursday, May 6, 1993, at Richfield Nursing Center. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty F. and Dexter B. Goodwin, Salem, Mary Pepper and Stanley Karansky, Clayton, Calif.; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret N. Ellis, Elliston, Frances N. Quinn, Roanoke; sister-in-law, Cynthia Northcross. Mrs. Fagg was educated at Harrisonburg Teacher's College and Ohio State University. A well known educator, she served as teacher, principal and supervisor in both Montgomery County and Roanoke County Public Schools. She taught music at North Cross Private School after her retirement as Roanoke County Supervisor. She also served as Chairman of the State Supervisors and she promoted a music program for all elementary schools. Memorial services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Salem, at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, with Dr. Robert T. Copenhaver and Dr. W. Melvin Maxey officiating. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Music Fund. Arrangements are being cared for by John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.
