OBIT MAHONE, HERBERT GAY

MAHONE, Herbert Gay, 83, of Bedford, died Thursday, May 6, 1993 after a long illness. He was born in Richmond on July 31, 1909 a son of the late Charles Ashby Mahone and Lettie Terry Mahone. Mr. Mahone was retired from Philip Morris Company and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Bedford. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Mahone Stinnet. Survivors include his wife, Nell Wright Mahone, Bedford; four children, Gerald Lee Mahone, Japan, Lannie Neil Mahone, Smithfield, Gayle Mahone Henry, Magnolia, Texas, Michael T. Mahone, Bedford; one sister, Edith Herndon, Richmond; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted on Monday, May 10, 1993 at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Pat B. Tony officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford is handling arrangements.
